Effective passive fire protection and fire door systems are paramount for the safety and protection of both property and its occupants. These systems act as the first line of defence against fire spreading throughout the premises, and provide precious time for evacuation and reducing damage.
DCUK has extensive experience and has firmly established us as industry leaders in the realms of passive fire protection and fire door manufacture, installation, inspection, and maintenance. With our holistic approach, we offer complete solutions for ensuring building safety compliance and optimised fire resistance.
Passive fire protection (PFP) involves building materials and structural design features integrated into a building to contain fire and smoke, prevent structural collapse, and protect escape routes. The basis is to contain the fire and smoke into areas or compartments or compartmentalise for periods of time such as 30, 60 or 90 minutes depending on the required evacuation time or route.
This can be highlighted for example with doors that are given a rating of FD30s which means the door set if fitted correctly in the correct substrate provides at least 30 minutes protection and containment of fire and smoke. PFP is ever present and requires no activation or human intervention such as an alarm.
ASFP membership demonstrates DCUK has met required standards and guidelines in the field of passive fire protection.
This accreditation assures our clients and the construction industry of competence, compliance, and a commitment to excellence in passive fire protection practices.
Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) is a leading international body that tests and certifies fire and security products and services to rigorous standards, ensuring they perform effectively to reduce risks of theft and fire, with approval indicated by its trusted ratings and listings in the Red Book.
LPCB approval confirms products (fire door sets, security doors sets, compartmentation walls and passive fire systems) meet established loss prevention standards (LPS), giving confidence to insurers, specifiers, and users.
DCUK specialises in the expert installation of certified fire doorsets within both residential and commercial premises. We are particularly proficient in managing installations within occupied buildings, where our work is completed with minimal impact on the structure's ongoing daily operations
Our BRE Accredited door inspectors conduct inspections in accordance with all current legislation, such as the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, prioritising repair and maintenance over replacement. Replacement is recommended only where absolutely necessary to ensure compliance.
DCUK recognises the critical importance of implementing robust fire stopping measures to safeguard both life and property. By effectively sealing penetrations through walls, roofs, floors, service risers, and voids, we ensure that our clients' buildings maintain their designated fire resistance. We provide a comprehensive suite of fire stopping services to ensure that building compartments, walls, floors, service risers, and roof voids retain their fire protection integrity.
All of our Engineers undergo product-specific training provided by major suppliers, ensuring they remain current with the latest products and their suitability for each task.
We take ownership of fire protection systems to guarantee compliance and deliver projects to the highest possible standards. Every DCUK project is delivered by a team of specialist installers and underpinned by FireArrest and Safety Critical, our project reporting platforms. DCUK is committed to enhancing industry standards, delivering continuous improvements in efficiency, sustainability and innovation.
Our aim is to make buildings compliant and lives safer through a foundation of technical excellence and inspirational people.
Our team is highly motivated with our frontline staff receiving fully compliant training to meet the needs of all our projects to ensure they are delivered in line with our third-party accreditations. These are constantly monitored through our internal compliance department and our CPD program. This aligned with each member of our team bringing with them an individual unique skill set and level of experience that dove tails the team together to cover all of our client’s needs.
