Passive Fire Protection

Effective passive fire protection and fire door systems are paramount for the safety and protection of both property and its occupants. These systems act as the first line of defence against fire spreading throughout the premises, and provide precious time for evacuation and reducing damage.

DCUK has extensive experience and has firmly established us as industry leaders in the realms of passive fire protection and fire door manufacture, installation, inspection, and maintenance. With our holistic approach, we offer complete solutions for ensuring building safety compliance and optimised fire resistance.

What is Passive Fire Protection?

Passive fire protection (PFP) involves building materials and structural design features integrated into a building to contain fire and smoke, prevent structural collapse, and protect escape routes.  The basis is to contain the fire and smoke into areas or compartments or compartmentalise for periods of time such as 30, 60 or 90 minutes depending on the required evacuation time or route.

This can be highlighted for example with doors that are given a rating of FD30s which means the door set if fitted correctly in the correct substrate provides at least 30 minutes protection and containment of fire and smoke.  PFP is ever present and requires no activation or human intervention such as an alarm.

Third Party Accreditations

ASFP – Association for Specialist Fire Protection

ASFP membership demonstrates DCUK has met required standards and guidelines in the field of passive fire protection.

This accreditation assures our clients and the construction industry of competence, compliance, and a commitment to excellence in passive fire protection practices.

LPCB approval confirms products (fire door sets, security doors sets, compartmentation walls and passive fire systems) meet established loss prevention standards (LPS), giving confidence to insurers, specifiers, and users.
